词汇研习（CW 49/2010）：怎么翻译 Moving forward 和 Going forward
这是两个新词（neologism），一般的字典里根本查不到。大约两三年前第一次遇到的时候，我感到十分迷惑不解。后来在都市词典（Urban Dictionary）里查到了，这两个词的意思都是“未来”：
Going forward is purported to mean, “In the future” or “somewhere down the road” when in fact it is an attempt to dodge the use of these words, which generally indicate “I don’t know”. A newer development in corporate doublespeak… （据说，Go forward 的意思是“未来”、“今后”。但使用这个说法实际上只是为了避免“未来”、“今后”这些字眼而已。一般来说，它所表达的含义就是“我不知道将来会怎样”。这是商界故弄玄虚的一个新说法。）
这个说法含义的重点是“前进”、“发展”。跟“在发展中解决问题”这个说法异曲同工。它的意思就是：不管现在的情况如何乱糟糟，都要留待以后再解决，不过我也不知道将来到底会怎么样，但现状呢，您只能忍着。
示例：
- Going forward we are confident our competitiveness in the British market will improve.
- Going forward, the scalability of processors will make the transition to new algorithms faster and allow the hardware platform to be expanded as need arises.
为了不把英语里面的“垃圾”进口到汉语当中，我觉得我们当翻译的可以根据这两个词的“意思”和“精神”把他们直接翻译成“未来”、“在未来”、“将来”等等。
