二月春风这把剪刀没有裁出多少新绿。没有好拍的，只好多拍一拍跟我同样略感失望的游人。

说起树，不知道还有没有人记得我家阳台外面、中学校园里面的几棵柿子树。去年，我和老婆看着树上的果子颜色变得越来越诱人，后来鸟儿们来享受这美味。正在琢磨怎么没人惦记这些柿子的时候，不知道一群什么人搬梯子来收获这秋天的果实。开始的时候，他们使用梯子的技术还不太娴熟，但慢慢地找到了窍门，不出两天果子很快就全都不见了。

尽管心里有些伤感，但是想着下一年还能看着柿子变绿、发芽、结果、成熟，也算是一种安慰了。可谁能料到，到了春天有人来挖树了！几天过去，地上只剩几个难看的大坑，果树都不见了。

生活在城市里，最喜欢看见的就是绿色，而且越多越好、越近越好。于是，就有人抽空就去郊区或者更远处的风景名胜去感受自然。我一身的懒骨头，不愿意走远，近处的风景看看就感到满足了，而那些结果子的树却无缘再见了。

我很久以来就发现自己是“常立志”。春天的时候还想着每个月至少到郊区风景好的地方溜达两次，结果即使周末有时间去也不愿意动弹。真是懒得可以了！

不过，我这次立志也不是一点行动没有。

六年前的秋天，我去了八大处。虽然我不是释迦牟尼的善男信徒，但还是在佛祖面前许下了几个心愿。时间一晃，这么多年过去了，许下的心愿都实现了，因此就一直想着再去一趟八大处的庙里拜一拜，把愿还了。因为懒惰，也因为工作繁忙，一直没能成行。今年五月底，我终于和老婆去了八大处。我还了愿，也许下了新的愿望。如果佛祖保佑，六年后都实现了，我们再去一次。

When the Chinese say someone else has shanghai le tamen de ganqing (伤害了他们的感情) and this expression is translated as they “have gotten their feelings hurt”, something is missing to native English speakers – the part of it that makes this expression really meanful to the Chinese.

How important is ganqing to the Chinese? If ganqing between Chinese people is hurt, it doesn’t simply make the victim “feel bad”. It makes him extremely disheartened. The victim interprets the hurt as a denial of all previously established rapport over a long and maybe very difficult time together and his past efforts to look after the inflicter’s well-being – it’s how you feel when a friend of yours betrays you, who you think you’re a loyal friend with and who you’ve always believed is a loyal friend with you, too, until the infliction occurs.

After ganqing is totally lost between two Chinese people, nothing else that matters in this relationship survives – either a romantic one or a long-time friendship.

今年的端午对于我家有些特别，因为我老弟要结婚了。借这个机会，回东北看看，已经两年半没有回去了。听我妈早上打电话说打算也搬到齐齐哈尔，加上我岳父岳母要搬到辽宁或者河北某地，以后常回家看看可以很近了。

I’d had a very cool and comfortable summer with my wife in Guiyang, Guizhou province back in late July and almost the whole of August. She studies medicine there, as I said in my previous posts.

I went to Guiyang and joined her for summer vacation. She and I went on lots of day-trips around the city and to several very scenic and refreshing spots in the province. They included newly built apartments nestled in valleys or perched on hillsides, or beside city parks; Tianhetan Park and Qianling Park, two city forest parks within easy reach from downtown Guiyang; an ancient village Qingyan (Black Rocks); and Huangguoshu Waterfalls (reportedly the biggest in Asia), Qixingqiao (Seven-Star Bridge, a naturally grown stone bridge over a dry ravine), and Doupotang (a tail leader scene of TV drama The Journey to the West, a pilgrimage story featuring Monkey King, was shot here), all outside of Guiyang City.
